49ers score rare defeat over UCLA


The California State University Long Beach men's basketball team have beaten the Bruins from UCLA for the first time in school history.

sophomore T.J. Robinson led the 49ers with 25 points and 13 rebounds en route to securing the 79-68 victory.

More Accolades for former Dirtbag Longoria


Former Long Beach State third baseman Evan Longoria, now a two-time All-Star for the Tampa Bay Rays, has received his first Rawlings Gold Glove Award, and the Louisville Silver Slugger Award.

Longoria hit .281 with 33 home runs and 113 RBIs during the 2009 season, while accumulating a .970 fielding percentage and only committing 13 errors in 150 games played.

Basketball Signing day


It was national signing day for Men's college basketball all over the nation, and 49ers coach Dan Monson was able to pull in three commitments from solid ball players.
Shelton Boykin is a guard from Long Beach Poly High School. Nick Shepherd is a forward from Missouri City, Texas. The last commit Jacob Thomas is a shooting guard from Columbus Heights, Minnesota.
Overall I think we signed exceptional young men that fir our needs on the team.

Fact of the Day


Did you know?
Former Denver Broncos all-time leading rusher Terrell Davis played his freshman year of college football at Long Beach State.
Davis carried the ball 55 times for 262 yards as a 49er.
After the 1991 season, the Long Beach State football program was eliminated and Terrell transferred to the University of Georgia to continue his college career.

Jeff Greenwood, Taylor Clute, and Jordan Koeppen each scored a goal for the 49ers.

No.3 Stanford, and No.2 ranked UC Berkeley visit CSULB next weekend for two critical contests.
